Let There Be Great And Glorious Celebrations!

Let me tell you guys, this book is going to break your heart like it broke mine.
But first, here's a ramble for you to enjoy. (I still don't know how to write newsletters. ;D
But, I am so happy to tell you guys I am the proud owner of an incredibly crappy first draft!
The process of writing the first book has been nothing but a challenge. I found myself distracted, unable to think, cloudy headed and just plain tired. This year has been a kick to the back of the knees and if I'm honest, it's been a struggle just to stay on my feet and keep going.
Finishing this book was a labor of love for all of you. I knew there were so many of you desperate for the next chapter, and I had to give you the rest of the story. I owe all of you for unknowingly giving me the motivation to keep going.
Thanks to all of you, I kept pushing ahead.
Now, as I edit my manuscript (albeit thoroughly behind schedule) I am finding the draft isn't -quite- as crappy as I thought it was when I typed 'to be continued'.
I am excited to get this into my editors hands, and I promise, great and copious amounts of coffee are being consumed to get this book to you guys by next summer.
So, here's a treat for all of you, for being good, a subscriber treat, if you will.
Book 3's title!!!
Drumroll please!
Book 3 in the Grimm Inheritance Chronicles is called....
Unraveling Grimm
Woot woot!!! Are you excited? I am!
Here's another treat! Here's a bit of dialogue, with absolutely no context, just for you!
Ronan had the audacity to roll his eyes.
“Remind me to kick you when I’m feeling better,” I muttered.
“You’re in no condition to be kicking anyone,” Ronan lectured.
“I said when I’m feeling better,” I growled. “That’s it, you’re getting kicked twice.” I was struggling with the covers, ignoring the pain, intent on showing him I meant business. “I’m going to kick you now and later! I’ll be a piece of chewy candy and I'll rip out your fillings while I’m at it.”
Stay tuned for more bookish updates and sneak peaks! (I'll try to do better about like, actually posting content on here :D :D :D
I aim to convey themes of hope in the midst of great sorrow and heartbreak. Courage in the face of evil, standing up for what's right and fighting for the ones you love.
I hope to express the ideas that, no matter what you're facing, there are things worth fighting for. Moreso, no matter how you feel, you have the strength to rise again and continue fighting.
These are all ideals and truths I pull from my faith, and in my aim to create God honoring fiction, these are truths I try to convey around the darker, heavier themes we so often encounter in this life. We live in a dark world, and we face great darkness everyday.
How we face it, and find courage in the fight, is one I believe can be conveyed through the journey of a life.
The strands of silver interwoven on a blackened cloth.
I have characters who are flawed, characters who fall, characters who lose hope. But we all do at some time or another, don't we? In the end, isn't it more important not how many times we fall, but how many times we rise again to keep fighting?
By the grace of God, we rise again, and while I don't write allegory, I write that strength and courage.
As C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien so often fought over, should a book necessarily be an allegory to be of worth? I land firmly on the side of Tolkien. :) Which is why I don't write allegories, I write concepts and ideas, themes of Christianity, if you will.
I know that I am not everyone's cup of tea, and I'm okay with that.
As always with my writing, my heart is to open the door for conversations about the one true source of hope in this life, Jesus Christ.
I've at last found peace in my convictions as a Christian author and my goal is always,
Soli Deo Gloria
With love and great gratitude,
-E.R. Brookes
